Lower town

The lower town is the area where there is the greatest concentration of microbreweries in Québec City. Besides, this is one of Saint-Roch District’s distinctive attractions!

At the east end of Saint-Roch, there is the Microbrasserie La Barberie, a real institution in the district. This is a cozy place particularly pleasant during summer thanks to its large and welcoming terrace. One of its distinctive features is the possibility to bring food or to have food delivered because there are few things to eat on the spot. There even are microwaves for customers! Arrive early because the place is often overcrowded!

East of rue Saint-Joseph, in a small side street named rue du Parvis, there is a place with a contemporary style popular among locals: the Noctem Artisans Brasseurs. Over there, you can discover many craft beers brewed on the spot and privately imported beers. You can also eat good and comforting meals made with homemade smoked meat.

If you continue on rue Saint-Joseph towards the west, you are heading to La Korrigane craft brewery. This brewery offers beers and light meals made with local and fresh ingredients. You can make discoveries of all kind like a maple Pale Ale or a blueberry Pale Ale!

If you continue a little more towards the west, you’re leaving Saint-Roch District to enter in the pleasant Saint-Sauveur District. On rue Saint-Vallier Ouest, you will find one of the great jewels of the area, Griendel, a casual craft brewery that offers 24 local draught beers, among which some are brewed on the spot. The food is particularly delicious, it’s a place to discover!

If you want to explore the locals’ favourite microbreweries uptown, you have to go on Grande-Allée, one of the most bustling streets of the city. There you’ll find the Brasserie Inox, a true institution with more than 25 years of existence! With its regular and rotary beers, it’s the ideal place to relax and make tasting discoveries after a long day of visiting Québec City.

If you go down a bit towards rue Saint-Jean, you have to stop at Le Projet bistro pub. This is not a microbrewery because they don’t produce beer over there, but this is a really nice place to discover for beer enthusiasts! Indeed, this place is specialized in local microbrewery beers. The ambiance is particularly pleasant with its rustic and contemporary charm.
