Under the supervision of the Restaurant Manager, the Maitre d’hôtel ensures the smooth running of operations, the quality of service and products, as well as the reception and satisfaction of the restaurant’s clientele. In addition, he/she must perform all other related tasks as part of his/her duties.

Job description

  • Plan and supervise the daily operations of the dining room service;
  • Coordinate and supervise the service team (waiters, hosts, clerks);
  • To ensure a professional and warm welcome for customers;
  • To guarantee quality of service and customer satisfaction;
  • Handle complaints and special situations diplomatically;
  • Prepare and organize the seating plans and service sections;
  • Distribute tasks and supervise teams during services;
  • Monitor schedules and staffing needs;
  • Participate in the training and integration of new employees;
  • Collaborating in the management of inventories and service equipment;
  • Control the quality and presentation standards;
  • Supporting management in optimizing operations;
  • Perform all other related tasks associated with the position.

Education

  • Diploma in hotel or restaurant management (an asset);
  • Relevant experience of 2 to 3 years in service or supervision in the restaurant industry;
  • Good knowledge of restaurant service and standards in the hotel and catering industry;
  • Knowledge of point-of-sale systems (an asset);
  • Experience in team supervision (strong asset).

Skills

  • Fluency in French (to communicate with local clientele);
  • Intermediate English (to communicate with international clientele);
  • Natural leadership and ability to mobilize a team;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong sense of customer service;
  • Diplomacy and professionalism;
