What to do in August in Quebec City?
Time flies and August is already here! But the weather is still nice, and festivals and events are still everywhere in the city. You still haven’t gone on vacation, or you’re thinking of coming back to Quebec City during the month? You won’t be disappointed, here is a list of events for August:
AUGUST 1 TO 5 2018
Every year since 1997, from the first Wednesday of August to the next Sunday, Quebecers remember the traditions of Nouvelle-France: North America during the 17th and 18th centuries. Celebrations last for five days, right in the heart of the city. Costumes and ambiance will immerse you, making you live in a time of soldiers and merchants on the paved main street. Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France is a celebration of history, activities, music and gastronomy, and it is an occasion to enjoy the last months of summer in one of the most beautiful cities in Canada.
AUGUST 2 TO 23 2018
In August, the Grands Feux Loto-Québec is offering you 6 incredible evenings (on August 2, 9, 11, 16, 18 and 23). During these events, fireworks will dance to various musical themes, lighting the city and the river to everyone’s pleasure. The shows will start on August 2 with last year people’s favorite: Country night! Followed with 80s pop the next Tuesday, the next nights will fall under these themes: Cuban salsa, Bollywood, orchestral waltz and 80s rock. AUGUST 4 TO 10 2018
Québec Singletrack Experience is the main sporting event of August for mountain biking fans. For 7 days, the experience offers you 7 steps, in 7 different locations, with 7 downhill challenges and 7 uphill ones. It is an excellent way to challenge yourself as you admire the beauties of Québec’s region. Base camp will be located downtown, at Mérici collégial privé, where you will be able to enjoy a good meal, entertainment, massage and yoga sessions, camping and much more. Every day ends with a beautiful bonfire.
AUGUST 8 TO 19 2018
Do you like to laugh? See you at ComediHa! Festival, a vibrant and colorful event with a unique concept. For 12 days, be entertained by 450 artists, famous and new. ComediHa! is a humoristic tour in more than 20 unusual locations. There will be 6 different galas, hosted by humorists like Patrick Huard, Phil Roy, Jean-Michel Anctil, Véronique Cloutier, Véronique Claveau and Mario Tessier, and Fabien Cloutier. AUGUST 16 TO 19 2018
From August 16 to 19, Espace 400e, in Québec’s Old Port, will host the Festibière de Québec. Many microbreweries, beer trucks and alternative drinks will be available for taste and many activities will take place during the festival: a music show, 4 discovery beer tours, conversations with brewers, bean bag tossing, and many more. Gourmet space will also offer many local products.
